Brief Biography of Sadguru baba Anwaranada 

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Sri Anwarananda Baba was born on 15th October, 1948, on the day of lunar eclipse, at Rayadurgam, as predicted by Sri Rayadurgam Swamy.  Sri Baba is the youngest among the three sons of Sri Rayadurgam Swamy and Smt. Ashabeeyamma.

            Sri Baba had school education at Rayadurg, of Anantapur District. In his childhood, while studying, Sri Anwar Baba use to read out the letters written to Rayadurgam Swamy by his devotees and use to write replies to them, as per the directions of Rayadurgam Swamy.

Successor of Bham Bham peetham

When he was barely 14 years old, he was saddled with the task of a Peetadhipathi.  On Maha Shivarathri day i.e., on 1st March, 1965.

Sri Rayadurgam Swamy addressed a large gathering of disciples, devotees and family members and informed them that he would name his successor on that day.  Then came the momentous announcement that

Sri Anwarananda Baba, would be the Peetadhipathi. 

This decision was welcomed by all with a thunderous applause.  Later Sri Anwarananda Baba, who was sleeping some where, was brought and after a ritual bath, Sri Swamiji took off his garland and gave his wholehearted blessings to Baba by garlanding him.

 Sri Rayadurgam Swamiji advised his disciples and devotees to serve Sri Baba with the same love, affection and reverence with which they all served him so long.

Childhood and Education

Sri Anwar Baba, pursued his higher education, however it was a testing time for him.  The entire family was to be managed with the meagre pension amount received by Sri Swamiji.

Baba lived a simple life and sacrified his own interest, in the interest of his elder brother, who was studying medicine.  While studying his degree at Veerasaiva College, Bellary, he was content with a meal that was sent every day from Rayadurg. 

With the grace of his Guru and his own irons will, he completed his studies.  He did his post-graduation in Philosophy at Karnataka University, Dharwad.  After completion of his education, Sri Baba took up a job as  Lecturer. 

The verbatile genius of Sri Baba and his command over classical languages such as Sanskrit, Arabic, as well as other languages such as English, Kannada, Telugu, Urdu etc., is all a result of his determined effort and sadhana.

Sri Baba, led a plain and simple life.  He is sinless and free from any worldly motive.  He never cares for material wealth and he does not do anything with mercenary motive.

 Well versed with the scriptures, he can dispel the disciple’s doubts and confusions.  A cheerful and pleasant smile on his face, he is a source of inspiration and courage to millions of people. 

Sri Baba gives a patient hearing to one and all, calm and self-controlled, he is like a boundless reservoir of compassion.  The distressed minds of his devotees are soothed by the kind words of Sri Baba and they feel fully reassured.
